Utatlan is a  Spanish school based right in the center of beautiful Quetzaltenango, Guatemala’s second biggest city.  We are dedicated to offering our students excellence in Spanish language study,  cultural activities and opportunities to learn about life in Guatemala,  and our aim is that each and every one of our students has a fantastic experience here in Quetzaltenango.

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world with over 400 million speakers. Studying will allow you to travel in Spanish speaking countries with more ease and security and learn more about the cultures of the countries you visit.  You will also have an edge in the competitive job market, where language ability is valued highly.

Guatemala is famous for language instruction as the accent here is fairly neutral, and it is not spoken at a fast pace. Quetzaltenango (or Xela as it is known locally) is ideal as a location to study as it much less touristy than other towns such as Antigua, with less English speakers, so you really have more opportunity to practice. It is also ideally located for traveling to other beautiful parts of the country at weekends and after you finish study.
