For students who register in advance in order to secure a place, you must pay a one-time Registration Fee of US$30. This is not part of your tuition fee. This fee is used to offset many of the promotional expenses of the school like web hosting and maintenance, etc. Booking in advance allows us to confirm your place in advance and match you to a teacher and host family that will best suit you. You may also choose not to register in advance and visit the school to sign up, but space is allocated on an as-available basis. Please note that simply requesting classes by e-mail cannot always guarantee enrollment.
Payment Options
The Registration Fee can be paid with VISA, MasterCard or American Express. This guarantees your place and means you do not have to pay your tuition fee in advance (unless you would prefer to). You can submit your registration form online using our Secure Form:
You will receive an email confirming that your payment has been received and your enrollment is guaranteed.
The Tuition Fee is due the first day of your classes. It can be paid in cash in US dollars, travelers checks, or their equivalent in Quetzales. You can also pay the tuition fee by credit card here at the school. If paying by credit card, a 9% surcharge is added to payments due to the bank processing fee.
Tuition Fee includes:
Five days a week of one-on-one instruction
(Private room in homestay with a Guatemalan family for seven days a week and three meals a day including Sundays.)
Optional participation in daily activities and excursions
Optional participation in weekend activities, excluding public transportation costs (and accommodation if overnight, and not camping)
Free use of Utatlan computers or use of wifi.
Daily fresh coffee, tea, and snacks during break.
Holidays
It is possible to study any day of the year at the school, however during weeks in which there is an official Guatemalan holiday, we normally replace the regular classes on that day with an extended activity relevant to the particular holiday (this does not affect the tuition cost for that week). If you wish to receive class instead of taking part in the activity we add $10 to the tuition fee for that week because our teachers receive additional pay if they work on those days.
These days are as follows:
- Januany 1- Año Nuevo (New Year´s Day)
- March or April - Jueves Santo y Viernes Santo (Easter)
- May 1 - Día del trabajo (May Day)
- June 30 - Día del Ejército (Army Day)
- September 15 - Día de la independencia (Guatemalan Independence Day)
- October 20 - Día de la Revolución (Day of the Revolution)
- November 1 - Día de Todos los Santos (All Saints Day)
- December 25 – Navidad (Christmas Day)
