At Utatlan we want to offer you the best experience you can get in Guatemala. Many schools just offer students a couple of volunteer options that are affiliated with their school. It is important to us that you make the most of your time and find the project that best suits you and one where you will be able to make a real difference.
We don't pretend to know everything about the many many volunteering options available in Xela, for that reason we work closely with the non-profit organization EntreMundos, widely regarded here as the experts in connecting volunteers to appropriate and deserving projects.
If you want to combine your study with volunteer work we will make you a personal appointment with Entremundos' volunteer advisor EntreMundos' volunteer advisor who will help you find the best fit from over 100 partner organizations. She will also help you contact the organizations to set up a time to visit and get to know the project. Utatlan covers the donation for this service which helps EntreMundos fund their volunteer placement service, training courses for local community groups and NGOs, and their free development and human rights magazine.

When considering volunteer work, please bear in mind that EntreMundos will do their best to find you a volunteer job that suits you, but many placements ask for a minimum time commitment of 1 month, and some request a minimum level of Spanish ability.
